PARENTING &
CHILD CARE

Paula Spencer Scott & kids

After 4 kids, 2 stepkids, 3+ years spent pregnant, 2+ decades of childrearing, dozens of books and articles, and 1000s of expert interviews, I've learned there's no one "right" way to raise a child. (But there are arguably wrong ones.)

I'm all about less guilt, and more common-sense.

My books on family include Like Mother, Like Daughter (written with my daughter Page), Momfidence (based on my longtime Woman's Day column), and the collaborations The Happiest Toddler on the Block with Harvey Karp MD, and Bright From the Start, with Jill Stamm.

I've written about everything from the joys of labor (really!) to the stresses of issues like anxiety, dyscalculia, and mommy correctness while the content chief of Kinstantly and a contributing editor to Parenting and BabyTalk.

I also create large-scale custom-content and marketing materials for family brands. Past clients include BabyCenter, Time Inc. Custom Publishing, Nickelodeon, Gerber, First Moments, Rodale Grow, and Wildflower Health/Due Date Plus.

(And yeah, that baby in my lap has a stick in her nose.)

Raising a family shouldn't be any harder than it needs to be.
